Dr. Maria Montessori once said, “…that we cannot make genius. We can only give to teach child the chance to fulfil his potential possibilities”. The easiest way is for children to explore instead of telling them what to do. By using their brain and their hands to do things themselves, children will obtain knowledge better and discover what they really like.

At Sakura Montessori, exciting activities like science experiments are integrated to Montessori classrooms of international standards, giving children ample opportunity to practice, experiment, explore the world, and gain essential skills as well as understanding.
Just this week, with simple ingredients such as vinegar, baking soda, dishwashing liquid, and water colours, children at Sakura Montessori are instructed to do the Erupting Volcano experiment. Every one listens to the teacher while she is explaining the phenomenon and confidently make their own prediction. They become scientists themselves to do the experiment with their peers and teachers, and then explode in amazement and surprise seeing exciting reactions during the experiment.

With this experiment, SMISers not only understand the nature of things, but also obtain essential skills such as observing, teamwork, communication, logical thinking, critical thinking, and problem-solving. New and interesting experiments also satisfy the curiosity of children about the environment, at the same time inspire a love for science in children.

Even at home, parents can also do these experiments with their children. They not only give children joy but also bring them to an understanding of science!
