“Mom helps with the life jacket
Dad helps holding the float
Waves rise high to say welcome
Oh how exciting it is!
Dad helps keeping the float
Please hold on tight!
Mom lifts up the feet
Move! Swim dear!
You are like a canoe
Riding on the wave
You are like a boat
Sailing to the sea.”
The activity “Poem Reading” always stirs up a cheerful atmosphere among kids and expected by kids every week. This week, with familiar and colourful images, along with the fun guide of teachers, SMISers at Sakura Montessori To Huu got to know the poem “I go swimming in the sea” which is new and interesting.
By joining this activity, young children gets a chance to develop their language. They will memorise and learn by heart a new poem to read with their parents.
This is also the chance for them to learn and obtain knowledge:
– Open their world view, obtain knowledge about summer activities at the beach, swimming skills and the family connection during each trip.
– Develop their cognitive, language, and physical health. Children can name and understand the benefits of some physical activities in the summer. By answering questions of teachers and talking to friends, children reinforce and broaden their vocabulary, improve their communication skills and natural responding ability. Especially, the combination between language and movement in the lesson also helps children develop their gross & fine motor skills, improve their stamina and enhance their intelligence …
– Apart from reading the poem, children also have a chance to play the role of sea creatures, discuss about their summer activities, and cut & paste sea creatures to decorate their floats to make them the unique ones. Hopefully in the coming days, they will get a summer trip to beautiful beaches for them to freely play with waves and sand!
