“Teacher, how to round these white floating rice cakes?”
“Can I shape them into flowers instead, teacher?”
“What are the ingredients to make floating rice cakes?”
….
All kinds of interesting questions of children at Sakura Montessori Thai Binh have been answered in the learning project “Floating rice cake making” this week.
Floating rice cakes are featured in this learning project at Sakura Montessori Thai Binh to help young children learn about this unique traditional food of Vietnam. This is also a chance for them to make little beautiful cakes themselves.
During the project, all children are eager to learn about the needed ingredients and the steps to make floating rice cakes. They then make cakes themselves in various shapes and later enjoy their own products made from rice and mung beans.
With such an interesting learning project, SMISERs at Thai Binh have had a chance to:
  • Practice cooking skills
  • Learn about the traditional cuisine of Vietnam
  • Establish a sense of food hygiene
  • Practice a teamwork attitude and teamwork skills
Let’s take a look at those beautiful moments when our young children are happily engaged in the activity of making floating rice cakes!
